A beautiful sight oh we're happy tonight, Walking in a winter wonderland… but in Santa Ana, with no snow.
Here we lack one of the biggest parts of the winter spirit, however not all hope is lost. There are still plenty of activities that can make the Christmas season fun.
Even though we are in southern California there are quite a few places you can go to experience the winter wonderland everyone thinks about. Many families will travel to areas like Big Bear to go have fun in the snow. “I plan on going to the snow and then baking cookies,” said Mrs. Callis, a chemistry teacher.
However, having a winter wonderland does not only mean snowman and snowflakes. Mrs. Riha has recently moved to southern California so she is interested in experiencing the winter wonderland we have. “[I will] try to enjoy the warm weather because I am still new to the California [weather]” said Mrs. Riha, a Junior english teacher. “You don’t have to trudge through the snow at wintertime. You still get to go out and play.”
But as many teenagers do not have any transportation to take them places they have to narrow down their plans for winter. Even without the snow winter break gives students the opportunity to hang out with friends. “[I will] probably go to the mall, go shopping, or watch movies,” said Bella Speer, a junior.
However, winter break is also the time to do simple things as well such as catch up on sleep. Some people, like Mrs. Riha, also planned to sleep in and hang out with her family while in winter break.
However while many people want to go out and have fun, everyone still wants that holiday reunion. This break gives students, parents, and teachers the opportunity to gather with the rest of the family and celebrate Christmas and New Years. So have fun during this winter break, in our little winter wonderland.
