High School consist of 4 years, suppose you do everything right, but is that last year worth it if you know that you can take a pass and go to college?
Many can disagree because we all are different and have individual pathways, but it’s possible and may be the better option of whatever you are trying to achieve as your career. This can allow apprenticeships, college classes, or even business to form.
“You can start college earlier or job, take your time to work for college” Mrs. Somoza, School advisor and graduate of UCSB.
Though there can be very good outcomes in but there are high stakes. Leaving high school unprepared can leave a dent into your career. If you don’t have a plan or any prior knowledge of what you are trying to pull off, it may not work.
Mrs. Somoza explained different perspective in high school graduation by claiming that graduation varies on what job you take or how intelligent you are as a student. Ms. Somoza brought up that some students may also have to drop out to support their parents. That isn’t always the case though because, Ms. Somoza did explain that students pass high school early and use that extra year to earn and save enough money for college.
When hearing a scholar graduate early, what may come to mind is how are they able to achieve graduation? The amazing and outstanding students that tend to achieve their victory of crushing through the grades of high school, have to be able to maintain A’s with ease and also receiving high scores on their SAT tests (Scholastic Achievement Test). Even Though there is a positives to graduating early, there are downsides.
In addition , emotional downside may not affect some students when they are in college, but does happen according to Ms. Somoza. Emotional downside is when a student is younger than other peers and feel uncomfortable by their age and may also feel discouraged. Again that only affects some students. (If a student takes their extra year to make money, won’t they be the same age as other students. Specify that this only applies to students that start college early as well.)
It is possible for a student for any student who are over achieving and want to go better places . One of Ms. Somoza’s family members was able to take a test and receive very high scores. Ruben Bugarin, junior at Samueli Academy, agrees with Ms. Somoza about the chances for students passing high school is a slim 10% chance. Ms. Somoza brings up that we have a lot of requirements in graduating and that some people may struggle with passing them.
Even though there are slim chances to graduate early with amazing grades and SAT scores, in the end it is very beneficial. Time is precious and making important things count is good, especially how you can start your career early.
