From November 2-19, 2015, all clubs on campus are competing on who can collect the most food cans for Samueli Academy families in need. The club that gets the most donations will earn a pizza party.
November is the time where families gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving with a feast of food; unfortunately, not everyone can afford one. ASB has decided to do something about that. “There are so many people on campus that may not have an option of a nice Thanksgiving dinner so we partnered with Orangewood,” said Mrs. JOB. “Orangewood is putting together baskets for family members on campus.” Those who are interested can do so by donating at least a can or two of food to help Samueli Academy families.
Not everyone participates in a club, but other students are still welcome to donate. “What ASB would do is take them. They would have the stuff here, or you can give it to a friend who is in a club,” said Mrs. JOB. Students not in clubs who wish to give should find a friend who does belong to a club, and donate through them.
ASB has other upcoming events to help those in need celebrate the holidays: “We want to do a toy drive during December. During February, a Valentine for Vets,” etc. Make sure to participate in upcoming events to help our Samueli families in need.
