Some Freshmen have stepped up for a position in ASB, to be the voice of the Freshmen audience. The candidates were Marlen Buitron and Kira Baker. The whole purpose of ASB is to help get the voice of others heard.
“ASB is giving the students a voice because they don't have voice,” said candidate Marlen Buitron, “If they do have the courage to speak up, they aren't heard which is unfair sometimes.”
Candidate Kira Baker said, “It allows the students to get more involved in the school and even the people that aren’t directly involved, can still be a part of it by having their opinions voiced by the ones who are.”
Is that all that ASB is about? According to Marlen and Kira it is about connecting with everyone. “I want to connect with the people, if I can't connect with them, how am I going to be their voice?”, said Marlen.
Kira said,”My goal is to be the kind that you can talk to and I will voice your opinions and never say that I didn't try to get your voice out.” Each candidate's qualities are beginning to show.
“I think Marlen has a good chance of winning because she’s a motivational person and she’s had experience in ASB from previous years,” said freshman Oscar Serrano about the Candidate Marlen Buitron.
“I think Kira has a good chance of winning because she’s a great person in general”, said freshman Rachel Molina, “She hears you out, and she is fun and very active.” Overall, the candidates are looking forward to representing the freshmen and being able to be the voice of the unheard.
“I want to thank everyone for giving me positive feedback and support” said Kira.
“I want everyone to know that I am grateful for everyone’s support” said Marlen “I want them to know that this is not for my personal gain, this is for the good of everyone else.”
Now that ASB Freshmen elections are over we have our final winners. Kira Baker is officially Freshmen class president.
