Attending school is a daily routine, we seem to not pay attention to what occurs everyday. Sometimes we aren’t even aware of actual club’s that are taking place during school hours or perhaps after school.
A club that is certainly one of the students favorite, is Photography Club, who is managed by Jordy Najera, a current Junior. “ Photography is not all about pictures. I try to make it about learning photography techniques, and I don't really have them take pictures at the moment because I want them to be ready, and I do expect them to take it seriously because Photography is important to me, people from photography became friends and are very close.” , Jordy states, when opening up about his photography club, and what to expect when joining in.
A former integrate of the club, Nicole Fernandez, current junior, says “I think he's a really good teacher and does a very good job reviewing what we learned in photography class freshman year. I like how he created a photography club because it gives a chance to students who did not take photography freshman year.”
Jordy shows a lot of passion for his class, and former student of his seems to really enjoy it, although there is some stuff they would rather do like , “ I think it would be more fun if we went out of school to take pictures.” Those minor things can definitely change throughout the school year. Jordy mentions how things have indeed changed, and he also talked about current projects. When being asked what his favorite project was he responded, “ I think my best project is currently right now, which is bringing the confidence out of people, and right now we are actually taking portraits from people. Currently we are choosing someone we know nothing about and as a gift, giving them their portrait with a message from the person who took it.”
As you can see this is not any ordinary club, this is more than a club, this club not only focuses on the photography itself, but combining it in a way that someone can grow as a person. “ I always had a passion for photography, I thought that it was important to offer that opportunity for people that didn't have it, and I thought it was good to have it because as high school students there is low self esteem and I thought why not have a club that can show you how to bring out the best side of someone through a picture.” I always thought of photography as a way to express themselves, and pretty much a simple picture, but never as how a picture can tell many stories behind it. “A picture is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you the less you know.”
