Delicious smells of food flowing through the wind. Burritos getting eaten by students. Tickets being sold for food. Posters advertising the different foods clubs have. Mouths getting watery for all the types of food there are. Long lines waiting for their stomachs to be fed. Nacho cheese filling tortilla chips!
Club members were advertising and promoting their clubs during the week of September 12-16 at Samueli Academy Campus to inform our fellow students about the different clubs that we have by participating at food day, selling some delicious foods!
So many clubs to choose from and so many great opportunities you get by joining these clubs! Here is some information about a couple of the clubs we have on campus:
The main purpose of Photography Club is “to enjoy photography together, look at photos, analyze photos, take pics together, enjoy company,” says Photography Club advisor, Mr.Jones. Every thursday at lunch time the club meets and learns more about the pictures and the types that they are.Evelyn Gonzales says.” I really like and enjoy taking pictures , this club sounds great for me”
For the Special Operations Club you get to experience and learn about the different positions that have to do with law enforcement, fire department, and being in the military/army. Your question might be, how does this club affect the students? Sargent. Brockman, leader of the Special Operations Club says, “It affects them by helping them realize their goals and what they want for their future.”This is an exciting and also challenging club to be in. That is because you get to learn and do activities that real military people do, like drills. Doing drills, as an example, you learn how to march and flip riffles in the air. There is much more that comes to being a part of Special Operations.
“Helping Hands is a club that focuses primarily in giving back to the community. We do local and nationwide projects. Locally, we’ve fed the homeless, done beach clean ups, and so on. Nationwide, we've gone to La Push, Washington, and helped an Indian reservation with anything they needed. We also learned a lot of stuff about their traditions,” says Violeta Vega, club member and ASB president. This club is all about helping and cleaning up our communities, helping the world one step at a time.
The Outdoors Club is a great way to get your mind off of school work and to just give yourself a break. There are many different exciting adventures to participate in every month outside! Jason Arias says, “This club really seems like I can fit into it since I am always stressing with homework.” This club provides an outlet to remind us that we can still have some fun, even with a pile of work.
These are only some of the clubs we have at Samueli Academy and there are many different, great reasons why you should join! If you stress too much at school, then you should join the Outdoors Club! If you want to be in any kind of law enforcement job or military, then you should join the Special Operations Club! If you want to help make the world a better place and complete community service, then you should join the Helping Hands Club. There are many great opportunities that will be provided to you in these clubs. You really should take into a great consideration into joining one!
