Students are tired of their government putting them in harm's way. They are using their freedom of speech to make a difference all over the United States, and are expressing themselves by leading protests to oppose their government.
Many students feel like there becoming victims of gun violence. The only way students feel like they can fight back is by protesting. They want to protest the government because guns are dangerous and they kill so many innocent people. According to USA TODAY, “More than 1 million people are expected to attend the March for Our Lives In Washington”. “I Joined a student march for gun violence because the laws are not changing and students want to make a difference,” said Student Natalie. Gun violence is becoming a huge problem in America. In the United States, More than 33,636 deaths occur due to gun violence in America.
Students are supportive of marching but some people wonder if these marches are even making a difference in the laws. “ I think organized marches can be effective but students marching out of class on a random day will not make a difference Martin Luther King Marches where effective because they were organized and consistent,” said teacher Noah Palacios.“They are proving a point and I would love to join one even though the government won't care and won't do anything to help it” said Student Gweneth Scot. People don’t trust the government to do the right thing.
Not everyone in the world has the freedom of speech. In other countries, people are killed for speaking out against the government. That's why having the freedom of speech is so important. “I think the freedom of speech is a great way to demand change,” said Student Natalie. “I would go marching for something I believe in because the active demonstration is a right that is given to us that can make an impact,” said Teacher Noah Palacios.
The Government should be for the people. Students are tired of the government not listening to them and not taking them seriously even when they keep expressing themselves. It is frustrating when you keeping on fighting for what you believe in and no one is listening, but united as a nation we will come together and use is freedom of speech because that is our given right.
