By Samantha Naismith When people put makeup on they are considered as someone who tries too hard, but when people don’t put makeup on they are considered ugly. Everyone makes their own decision whether to wear makeup or not. The hard part is that people are made fun of no matter what they choose. Justin Pascua says, “I think that makeup doesn't affect how others might look at you, but affect how you look at yourself. The word beauty is different to all and all makeup does give you that option to find your image of beauty.”
Some people don’t care about their appearance considering what people say about them because they think they look great. Others don’t like how they look because they may be afraid people will say things about how they look or they just are confident about their appearance, so they wear makeup. Annie Chang says, “I think that the saying is stupid and people shouldn't be judged by their physical appearance in the first place because there is much more behind a person than there appearance, which is personality.” said Annie Change. From experience, she has been affected and states that it made her insecure about her appearance., depressed and she started to think she was ugly because of what others were saying. “I find this stereotype stupid because there is no way to satisfy society. It's either one thing or the other.” said Cynthia Ramirez Many people are against this stereotype as it affects people in a negative way. The reason why people stereotype, may never be known. But some reasons could be that people don’t feel good about themselves or their jealous so they take it out on others. Justin states that people who stereotype other are jealous or not happy with themselves, so they blame others as everyone has a set image in their head, so when they don't see that image they judge others. On the other hand, there are many different reasons that people wear makeup. Annie Chang states that some people may wear makeup for fun, to look prettier and maybe most of all to be noticeable and popular Cynthia says, “-“I believe people choose to wear makeup because they don't feel comfortable in their regular skin. Many do it just to please themselves” Makeup at times may change a person mentally, by breaking down a person self-confidence. Justin states that makeup does not change a person because everyone definition of beauty is different, but at times it can affect them mentally as wearing makeup makes people feel that they are giving the best of their abilities to make them presentable. At times it can change a person physically. It can change a personal appearance as someone can be affected so much that they decide to get surgery to make certain makeup qualities permanent because they feel as if they can’t be accepted without it. As we go further in the future stereotypes become stronger and stronger until it’s culture, but it’s time for that to change. If someone's wearing makeup, it should be because they chose to, not because they are trying to be accepted. If someone is not wearing makeup, it should be because they choose to, so it doesn’t mean their ugly.
