Everyone has been stressed out in some point of their life, but is drug use really the answer? I’m here to tell you that drugs are not worth it at all. I will be going over the consequences, obstacles, why teenagers do drugs, how they can get their hands on drugs, and the places they can go to consume the drugs.
Why do teenagers do drugs?
There are many different reasons as to why teenagers do drugs. One of the main reasons that teenagers doing drugs they observe others especially if they are family or friends. Drug use in social media (i.e, movies, tv, or hear it in music) has been very common lately and teenagers can be influenced by it. Now that drug use is being heard and seen every where, they could see it as a positive thing. There are periods of time when teenagers are having personal problems or emotionally hurt and drugs are their only escape and to happiness in their life. Others, in the other hand do it because of boredom or they may want to try something new. Teenagers who struggle with confidence are also most likely to do drugs because they feel more confident with themselves. Sadly, some teenagers struggle with lack of attention from their family. (i.e, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc.). It does affect them because without any attention from anyone, they could start believing that they aren’t worth it and that depressing thought can cause them to start doing drugs. “The fact that they may have family issues, personal or bullying problems and that they want all the pain to go away, so it causes them to do drugs,” Yesenia Valdez, a freshman. She believes that problems that the teens are facing is what has been causing them to do drugs. “They could be dealing with problems that they can’t handle and think of drugs as their escape”, said a mother of a teenager. Even parents have the same perspective as teenagers themselves-emotions and problems are the main reason that teenagers start consuming drugs. Any website that specializes in drug use facts will prove this point.
How do they get their hands on drugs?
There are many ways teens can get their hands on drugs. Simple as prescription medicine can be a drug that they can abuse from. Its everywhere at home, at a from a friend, at school, or at parties. “I believe that they can get drugs at basically any place, drugs are available anywhere,” said Yesenia Valdez. “I believe the most common places are on the streets, at school, or parties,” Mom of a teenager said. According to research, they have found out that Alcohol, Tobacco, and Marijuana are the most commonly abused by adolescents.
Consequences and Obstacles
Consequences and Obstacles
There are many risks that people can face. They could suffer with brain effects, liver effects, and even growth effects. You may even lose your life because of drug use. According to statistics, about 2,500 12 to 17 year olds abuse drugs. Drug abuse kills about 200,000 people worldwide each year. True, some teengaers may want to stop, but the problem is that sometimes they could face obstacles that stop them. “ I believe their biggest obstacle is the fact that when they start doing drugs, they get addicted and they can’t stop.” Yesenia Valdez. “Their biggest obstacle might be that they get a lack of attention and support from their own parents,” Mom of a Teenager. Both of these opinions are true, if they get addicted then it makes it harder for them to stop, and if they lack attention and support from their own parents, it might make them think that their parents don’t care about them or what they end up doing in their life.
Ways to get help
This idea is extremely important because this is something can put a teenager’s life at risk. If you are someone who does drugs take my word and STOP! There is always a better way to fix problems in life. There are also ways to get help, “They could go to a health group or they could go talk to someone they trust about their feelings, because sometimes what people need is someone to talk to,” Yesenia Valdez said.
