Chemistry teacher at Samueli Academy, Mrs. Callis, claims that a neighborhood on Yale Ave. and Chapman Ave. in Fullerton is one of the best places to go around. She describes that every house in the whole neighborhood is lit up with decorations. The community decorates the trees with “Sparkleballs.” Sparkleballs are cups tied together with lights inside. Another great place Mrs. Callis suggests is a neighborhood in Brea, on Primrose Ave.. She explains that the neighborhood is also decked with Christmas scenery and displays.
Why do some people like to look at Christmas decorated houses? “I like to look at the decorations for the art of it and for the Christmas spirit,” says Harrison van Echten, a junior at Samueli Academy. Harrison thinks it’s interesting to see the different scenes every year. He explains multiple houses, including his own, decorate for Christmas in his neighborhood.
For Samueli student, Angel Peralta, going to a Christmas parade is a joyful tradition. He explains, “I enjoy watching the different lights and decorations.” Angel describes that looking at different colored lights with Christmas spirit helps lighten up the mood. His family decorates his apartment just for the fun of it. Angel also believes that some of the houses who go all-out with decorations are showing off their house and competing to have the best display.
These are some shining areas that people believe are worth visiting and how Christmas decorations affect the local area. Do you agree? Are you planning to visit the Newport Beach boat parade? Take a trip with your family or friends and enjoy the winter break by strolling around illuminated neighborhoods.
