Juniors at Samueli Academy are confident about starting internships. But there is many things still to be done. In order to interview for an internship you must have a complete portfolio, a resume, and a cover letter.
Jesenia Bravo, a junior at Samueli Academy, says she feels very confident and quite excited about the internships. “I am confident I will get the one I want. I have a great portfolio and good resume.” She is going to apply for Pacific Marine Mammal Institute because she loves animals. She did say that the only thing she might want to fix is narrowing down her studies and her portfolio because she has a lot of things.
Some advice I sought from current Samueli Academy seniors is that they are usually looking for people who fit the part. So play the role you want.
Kala Gabler, junior class advisor, says “The internships are important because it gives students an opportunity to show off how mature and independent they are. Sometimes in school we do too much for you and in an internship they can say you're late and show consequences”. She believes the internships prepare students for the real world of getting a job.
Jaiden Manrique Aparicio, a junior at Samueli Academy, says he is confident but wishes that these internships weren’t a requirement. So why is this a requirement to graduate? Well according to Nyree Brockman, “It is a requirement because it will make you more prepared” she said during one of her talks with the junior chemistry class.
Internships are going to be coming up quick juniors! So get prepared!
