On September 15, 2017, club rush occurred meaning that it was the official commencement of Samueli’s student organizations. Clubs were promoting themselves, their goals and peaked the interests of many students. There were tables filled with members and their main poster board. Smiles and squeals came from both students signing up and members near the tables with colorful boards that included pictures, and examples of what occurs during meetings. Poetry club members spewed some awesome poems, Geek Up members dressed in cosplay while Food club offered cookies. In other words, club rush was a big hit.

Competing with dozens of other schools in Orange County, Samueli Academy has challenged itself in this year’s 2017 National History Day. National History Day (NHD) is an event where students are able to explore and learn about the past in an exciting, hands-on way; and then, present or act out their projects in a way of their choice. Every year, NHD has a new theme; this year’s topic is “Taking a Stand.”

Samueli Academy has only been around for four years and every year new staff join the fire wolves. This year, we were joined by Matthew Bell, Norah Sarsour, Stephen Pink, Erik Pederson, Gina Gonzalez, Noah Palacios, Martin Dominguez Jr., Mariela Herrera, Isabel Saldana, and Hugo Jacobo. With all these additions, we are now a fully staffed school.
