Fall is usually a season filled with wind, rain, and multi-colored leaves. This fall, however, the weather has been in the high 80’s and low 90’s. Does this affect the way people dress? Some people might agree that fall is the season where they get to be most fashionable: wearing big sweaters, scarves, and comfortable clothes.
Fall consists of warm clothes and some of people’s favorite fashion trends seem to be scarves, trench coats, baseball tees, big sweaters, plaids, flannels, jackets, and apparently shorts.
“Any time of the year, I usually dress the same as I always do because I don’t like wearing pants,” said Omar Rodriguez, a Freshman.
Although fall can be cold, this year seemed to start off with a warm autumn; but does that affect the way people dress for that occasion?
“Yes, I try to stay seasonal but for some reason the weather just doesn’t agree with me,” said Makenna Percy, a Junior.
“Absolutely, because I'm pregnant and therefore hotter than everybody else right now. So I'm still dressing for summer,” said Mrs. Abuel, faculty at Samueli Academy. “I’d rather be comfortable than fashionable any day.”
Some people dress for the season’s trends regardless of what the temperature may be. “I still follow the fall trends but I try to wear thinner clothes,” said Marianne Paniagua, a freshman.
“I like being fashionable and the weather does not matter,” said Daisy Lopez, a Freshman.
The 90’s fashion trends are coming back. Flannels, a 90’s trend originally, is being brought back as a modern trend. Denim jackets, crop tops, floral skater dresses, Doc Martens, choker necklaces, etc. “There are a lot of similarities, so it’s kind of cool for me to see those things come back into style,” said Mrs. Abuel.
“They are very similar, a lot of the flannels and army green colors are very similar to what I wore growing up,” said Mr. Hupke, a substitute at Samueli Academy.
Everyone is waiting for the hot weather to go away, in hope to finally dress comfortably.
